WHO WE ARE
Col John Birch's Regiment of Foote is a parliamentarian regiment of The Sealed Knot. Our regiment raises money for charity by providing entertainment and educating the public about this very important period in our history, and individual members take part on the battlefield to escape the pressures of today's hectic lifestyle, and relax and enjoy a great social life. We recruit across the country but as a regiment we have concentrations of members in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Powys and the West Midlands.
The society attracts people from all walks of life and of all ages. We have 'Knotters' ranging in age from new-born babies to 90+, although neither of these extremes includes many regular battlefield combatants! Some members go for the excitement and physical contact of the battlefield, others for the relaxed atmosphere of a weekend away, others for the socialising and the beer tent, and most people for all these. We are a very family-friendly society: this is one of the few hobbies where all members of the family including the kids can take an active part.

WHAT WE DO
The Sealed Knot brings history to life by staging events throughout the country all year round, offering a chance to experience at first hand the horrors of a nation at war with itself, as well as providing a glimpse of everyday life in those days.
Our events vary in size: a major battle lasts for two or three days, often (but not always) over Bank Holiday weekends, and can see thousands of combatants taking to the field. At the other end of the scale, we can be found giving educational talks to various schools and organisations.
WE WANT YOU!
We are actively recruiting for new members to swell our ranks, so if you think this could be for you, please contact us for further details. Once you've joined, you will experience the noise and excitement of clashing pike blocks, musket fire, roaring cannon and cavalry charges, a thrill that experienced Knotters never tire of. There are many different roles within the regiment, ranging from fighting in the pike, musket and artillery to non-combatant roles for drummers, camp-followers, and living historians.
